Kinsley
Kinsley Adelynn Wilkerson was diagnosed at 3 years old with a rare and aggressive brain cancer known as Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT) in September 2018.
When Kinsley was diagnosed, she seemed like an otherwise healthy little girl, but was complaining of sporadic neck pain which had progressively worsened over the prior six weeks. The culprit was a 6cm tumor in the frontal lobe of her brain. Kinsley spent more than half of her life fighting cancer with treatments spanning brain surgery, aggressive multi-agent chemotherapy, high-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cell transplant, proton radiation (both focal and CSI), Gamma knife radiation, an EZH2 inhibitor, and multiple antibody and immunotherapies.
Kinsley lost her nearly five year battle with brain cancer in July 2023. She was an absolute warrior and fought alongside her mother (Anjali), father (Robert), sister (Avila), and brother (Ryland).
Kinsley's story, bravery, and infectious laugh inspired many people during her too short life. She had a unique ability to inspire change from both those that knew her well and those who only knew of her spirit. Her supporters proudly became "Kinsley's Unicorn Squad" and did everything they could to support Kinsley in her fight. In her honor, Kinsley's Unicorn Squad is continuing to grow and fight for those affected by pediatric brain cancers. Visit Kinsley's Unicorn Squad for more details.
