Ryder
Age 5
The Battle
Ryder’s journey began on April 8, 2022, when he was diagnosed with ATRT at just 10 months old. Over the next year and a half, he displayed incredible strength while enduring 18 months of intense chemotherapy, six weeks of radiotherapy, and two major surgeries. The second surgery successfully removed the tumor, and Ryder has been disease-free since February 2023.
To maintain his health and "keep the beast away," Ryder began a course of Tazemetostat in January 2024. He reached a major milestone at the end of January 2025, when he officially finished his treatment.
Life After Treatment
Today, Ryder is a vibrant 5-year-old who is embracing every moment of being a "normal" little boy. Since finishing treatment, he has continued to have clear scans and is currently monitored with follow-up MRIs.
This past year has been wonderful for Ryder. He has maintained clear scans and is a very happy boy. Since starting preschool, he has made a group of friends and looks forward to going very much. A boy on the move, Ryder loves jumping off everything and constantly testing his limits. His favorite things at the moment are trucks, diggers, and dinosaurs, and he still loves Paw Patrol.
After starting swimming lessons, he recently conquered his fear of putting his head under the water, a milestone he was incredibly excited to reach.
As his family shares, “We love seeing him striving and enjoying his life to the fullest.”
Looking Forward
Ryder celebrates his 5th birthday on May 14. Just one day later, on May 15, he will head in for his next scheduled MRI. His family and community remain hopeful and positive, looking forward to more good news and another year of Ryder simply being the happy, thriving boy he is.
