Vela June

Diagnosed on January 27, 2026, with a brain tumor located in her hypothalamus, Vela began her fight with courage. She underwent an initial biopsy and shunt placement; however, due to the tumor's location, the shunt was unsuccessful and subsequently removed. A second surgery successfully removed the majority of the tumor.

Following the ACNS0333 protocol, Vela has tackled her treatment with incredible strength. She is scheduled to finish radiation and have her lines removed the first week of September. She is a true fighter who has kept her smile through the whole journey.

Vela’s family is endlessly grateful for her amazing oncology and BMT team, who have been by their side day and night. The Ronald McDonald House has provided a comforting space to heal close to her treatments, and the Supporting Kids Foundation has offered vital financial support. Reflecting on the dedicated people and organizations that have walked alongside them, her family shares, "We cannot thank them enough."
